Vian Brown Morales

Vian Brown Morales has spent her career serving mission-driven organizations, building teams and systems from the ground up, and she brings that same operator's mindset to her work as Director of Operations for the Leadership Center. She is honored to serve the Federal Defender community in the crucial work they carry out every day.

Over the last 15 years, Vian served as Founding COO of Beckley Retreats, where she built the organization's operational infrastructure from its earliest stages; as COO of Frequency, developing deep expertise in creating spaces that give people room to connect and learn; and as an Army Officer. Her time in the military and as one of the first Black female graduates of The Citadel shaped a leadership philosophy rooted in accountability, precision, and care for the people she has the opportunity to work alongside and in service of. Across these roles, she has built a strong commitment to healthy workplace cultures, believing that the people behind an organization's mission deserve the same care as the mission itself.

When she is not supporting teams, Vian can be found spending time with family, staying active outdoors, and looking for the next good book to read.
