Lisa Lunt

Tapping on her experience as a lawyer, leader, teacher, mentor, and coach, LISA LUNT founded the Federal Defender Leadership Center with defender leaders around the country and co-founder Lisa Guffey in 2023. She is dedicated to co-creating an inclusive, integrated, and inspiring organization to provide leadership training and support to leaders (senior, new, mid-level, aspiring, and other cohorts) in the FPD community. In the depths of the pandemic, Lisa enthusiastically collaborated with public defenders to reimagine a future that centers leadership development, sustainability, and individual and communal wellbeing so that clients get our remarkable community at its best.

For four years Lisa was an Attorney Advisor in the Training Division of the Defender Services Office. She spent 15 years as an AFPD in the District of Maryland, where she served as Co-Chair of Training for ten years. She was a leader of a courthouse team that launched the first collaborative court in the District of Maryland, ARCS (Alternatives to Reincarceration through Community Support). Loyola of Los Angeles Law School and Yale University are her alma maters. Lisa is also an ICF certified Executive/Mindset Coach, spreading the value and vitality of coaching throughout the world. Lisa is a mom, partner, friend, paddleboarder, cold water dipper, nature lover, traveler, avid reader, and vegan cook (among other identities).
